  4. This demonstration version is a fully functional version of PinPoint with
  5. the following limitation:
  6.  
  7.    You cannot add more than 20 records to a file, though you may read
  8.    files of any size.

  11. Starting PinPoint
  12. -----------------
  13.  
  14. To start PinPoint, double click on its icon in the 'PinPoint Working Model'
  15. Program Manager group.
  16.  
  17. The PinPoint workplace will appear with an untitled project created, ready
  18. for you to start work. 
  19.  
  20. The Working Model includes the full help system, it is recommended that
  21. you browse through the help system first - press F1 and a 'Quick Start'
  22. page will open.

  25. Example Files (in the directory examples\)
  26. -------------

  28. The example files illustrate various aspects of using PinPoint and the type
  29. and variety of tasks for which it can be used. To open an example file, from
  30. the File menu, choose Open (ALT, F, O) and choose the 'Examples' directory
  31. from the directory list.

  33. The project Examples.ppf contains descriptions and links to each of the 
  34. examples, and itself illustrates the use of Object Linking and Embedding 
  35. within PinPoint answer sheets. Most answer sheets contain an icon for 
  36. an embedded file written using Write. To read the file, double click on the 
  37. icon.

  39. Each answer sheet also contains a package containing a link to the example 
  40. project, to open the project, double click on the package.

  42. NOTE: For the links to work, you must have installed PinPoint in the 
  43.       directory c:\PinDemo, otherwise Object Packager will report the 
  44.       error 'Failed to carry out command'
  45.  
  46. Example forms and printers.
  47. ---------------------------

  49. Each of the examples has been designed for printing on an HP LaserJet II, 
  50. or compatible, printer using the TrueType fonts Arial and/or Times New 
  51. Roman. If you are using a different printer, especially one with a 
  52. resolution higher than 300dpi, you may find that the forms are not perfect 
  53. due to the re-formatting that has occured to match the screen appearance to 
  54. the printed appearance - simply use the Hand tool to correct any poor 
  55. appearance.

  58. File Formats Understood by PinPoint.

  61. The following file formats are understood by PinPoint and
  62. can be imported from.
  63.  
  64. 1. CSV/TSV
  65.  
  66.    These are fully described in the manual.

  68. 2. dBase II,III,IV
  69.  
  70.    All field types can be imported from, including memo fields.
  71.  
  72. 3. Paradox
  73.  
  74.    The full version of PinPoint is able to import Paradox files, unless you
  75.    already posses the Paradox Engine, this demonstration version cannot 
  76.    import data from Paradox.

  78.    Unformatted memo fields are imported.
  79.    Other BLOB field types are not imported.
